Tahmoures Pournazeri was born in a musician family started learning music from early childhood. At a young age He was a skilled player of many Iranian traditional instruments. Professionally, He focused on playing the tar, setar, tanbour, daf and ‘oud. His first musical performance as a tanbour player was with The Shams Ensemble when He was 12 years old . Tahmoures have been composing music since 1994.

Tahmoures Pournazeri has studied Persian poetry and literature. His understanding of Iranian modern classical music, the ancient music of the tanbour and Kurdish music, and methods of composition in Western classical music brings a variety of perspectives and an innovative style to his composing and playing music.
