Arcanorum Astrum is a Russian metal band formed in 2006, with origins dating back to 2002 when the death metal group Molot Vedm was founded by Casurus, Alarm, Mikhail Sharapov, and Pavel Alekseev. Initially, the band explored a variety of styles, ranging from thrash to progressive symphonic black metal. Their first performance took place in 2003 in their hometown of Toropets, Tver Region.

In 2004, following ideological differences, the band's vocalist left, and despite efforts to find a replacement, the position remained vacant. However, guitarist Sergey Konovalov joined the band, and the composition "War of Chaos" was recorded. During this period, the band adopted a more eclectic approach, blending elements of progressive, symphonic, black, and death metal. The band subsequently changed its name to Arcanorum Astrum, and later that year, lead guitarist Casurus chose to pause the project and relocate to Moscow. In Moscow, he began searching for new musicians and eventually connected with the future members of the band, including a bassist, guitarist, drummer, and keyboardist. A new vocalist also joined the lineup shortly after.

The band experienced a revitalization in Moscow, with its official reformation date set as April 10, 2006. The group began rehearsing new material at their practice facility in Vladikino. However, due to a lack of creative progress, the band parted ways with their drummer, replacing him with Alarm, who had relocated to Moscow.

As tensions arose with the band's second guitarist, Arcanorum Astrum ultimately parted ways with him after several disagreements, as further collaboration seemed unfeasible. The band then sought a new guitarist, and Abbath, a former member of Corona Mortiis, joined the lineup. With this new configuration, the band began recording promotional material and performing live.

In 2009, the band released the promotional album "Path to Oneself...". This debut effort featured an 18-minute composition that showcased a blend of symphonic and melodic black metal, incorporating intricate keyboard passages reminiscent of late 1990s Norwegian metal. The promo displayed a variety of musical ideas and dynamic moments, including well-executed electronic effects and guitar solos that added diversity to the overall sound. Read more on Last.fm.
