Rafi (Rafael) Perski was born in 1960 in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, and immigrated to Israel in 1969.

His mother worked as a seamstress, moving to Israel with the whole family. During the 1980s he worked as an assistant recording technician at Triton Studios and recorded albums of singers like Arik Einstein, Alberstein, Nurit Galron, Gidi Gov, Yehuda Poliker and Ofra Haza. The turning point in his career came when Yaakov Gilad heard his songs, and became his music producer.

His first album, "How Many Times You Counted to Ten", was released in 1989, in which he sang and played guitar. The album had 4 hits: "A Million Dollars", "Several Times", "Once a Week" and "Good for Me Good for Me".

In September 1991, Persky released his second album, "Key to the Heart", also in a musical production by Yaakov Gilad, with Persky writing and composing. The album included a number of hits such as "Donia", "Little Human Mistake", "Lately" and "Swings", but was a hit with ”Katnia”. In 1992, he began working on a third album produced by Oved Efrat.

In 1995 he released his third album: "Sex, Food, Money, Love and Hate" which was produced musically by Simon Weinstock.

Due to the commercial failure of his second and third albums, Persky retired for several years from second and third musical activities, Persky retired from musical activity for several years. and had a few business including carpentry, commerce and a pub.

In 1999 he returned to musical activity and was a guest on Amir Lev's performances. Collaboration was later recorded on Lev's album "Live at Barbs”, in which he stood out with Amir for his song "Kama Paamim”.

In 2001 he started working on a fourth album. The first single for the album was "Five Years".

In January 2005, he released his fourth album with HaTav Hashmini Studios, named “In the Heart and Soul", which included a single by the same name and the songs "Room 123", "Five Years", "Walking on the Sidewalk". The album was musically produced by Tal Matmor and Oved Efrat.

In 2008, Persky served as the musical producer of Boaz Banai's album "Love the Tin Man". That same year he also produced Asi Zigdon's first album, "Inside."

In the summer of 2015, Persky managed the crowdfunding project on the Dastart website in order to raise funds from his fans for a new album. The album was named "Side Room" and released in January 2016, containing mostly old songs in new performances, as well as a number of new songs. A year later, Persky released his sixth album, "Sad Songs I happily composed," a mini-album containing five songs he composed to the words of Israeli poets Yonah Wollach, Zelda and David Avidan. In the early 1980s he lived next door to Yonah Wollach, and was a close friend of hers.

Personal Life
Persky was never married. He was the partner of journalist, fashion editor and Israeli television journalist Elimor Zilberman, with whom he had a daughter.
