Oh No Darkness!! is an alternative rock band from Osaka, Japan, formed in October 2015. The band consists of Chisato Kawabata on bass and vocals, Kubo Taiji on guitar, and they have had other members such as Fumihiko Muraoka and Zoe who played guitar. Additional support members join them during live performances. They have a distinctive sound rooted in 90s US-inspired alternative rock and power pop, featuring ethereal female vocals.

Chisato and Kubo first met in a university band circle in 2011 and began playing live shows together. Kubo, who started playing guitar in high school, had been writing songs since then. His motivation was to form a band that would embody his unique vision and sound.

The name Oh No Darkness!! was spontaneously decided upon during a gathering of the original four members. They suggested English words, with Kubo's preference for "Darkness" and Chisato's suggestion of "Oh No" combining to form the band's name.

As band members changed, Chisato took on the role of vocalist. Their musical style evolved over time, particularly after the departure of a guitarist-vocalist member.

Kubo cites influences such as Asian Kung-Fu Generation, The Strokes, and Buzzcocks. Chisato discovered bands like Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Quruli, and Fujifabric after joining the band. She has developed an appreciation for heavier sounds, including metal bands like Korn and Metallica, as well as female vocalists like YUKI and Clammbon. Chisato also expresses her admiration for The Smashing Pumpkins, particularly their melodic and beautifully balanced sound.

Chisato focuses on writing melodies and lyrics, aiming to strike a balance between heavy sounds and catchy melodies. She believes that the band's charm lies in the peculiar balance between having a heavy sound and being easy to listen to. Chisato strives to create beautiful melodies that align with her personal taste. Kubo takes charge of composition and often creates complete tracks, including drums and bass. The band then refines the songs together in the studio. Recently, Kubo has started creating backing tracks on his own while leaving the vocal melodies to others.

On October 9, 2019, they released their first nationally distributed album titled "Oh No Darkness!!," which includes a compilation of their best songs from their formation until then, including tracks previously sold at live venues.
