A Thing Called Rain Lyrics

I think I''ll quit my job today
Spend the money that I saved
I think I''ll build a boat for me
And sail myself across the sea

'Cause' every night the sun goes down
The morning helps me come around
The coffee likes to chase the booze
The booze, it likes to chase the blues

I kept your picture in a frame
I kept your heart out on a chain
But hearts don''t belong on chains
And pictures don''t belong in frames

People come and people go
Foe to friend and friend to foe
And you do just what you're supposed to do
'Cause the clock don''t ever stop for you

And she thinks she knows me, oh so well
For six nights in a cheap motel
She gave her heart away for free
She gave it all away to me

But I'm needle dancin'' on a pin
Match under my heels again
Not every bird will sing for you
Don''t matter how you ask her to

I can''t believe the way she acts
She doesn't even know the facts
But ain't that just the way it goes
You''re telling truth in liars clothes

Born and raised and born again
I can''t tell you why or when
But everything will happen twice
Sure as fire, plain as ice

So it''s broken hearts and dusty roads
And somewhere there, my soul explodes
With every piece of everyday
And everything I meant to say

And where I''ll be, no one can tell
I''m fishing in a wishing well
I'm doing the best I can
I hope you''ll understand

Now I seen the lights that shine
Countless colors in my mind
They climb and swim and spark and glow
And ask me what it is I know

I know a thing called love
A thing called thunder in the sky above
And I know a thing called pain
I know a thing called rain

Oh, called rain, rain

He released his first album in 2002 and, in 2005, signed with a major record label, Verve Forecast. In March 2013 he began performing as a member of The Black Crowes.

Greene was interested in music from an early age. As a child, he taught himself to play the piano and subsequently the guitar. At 16 he started sitting in for local bands. As he got older he started composing his own songs and ended up playing in coffee-houses. He recorded a demo in his garage called “Rusty Nails”.

When he was 17 he moved to Sacramento and started getting local notice. Marty DeAnda owner of local label DIG Records, noticed him and Greene became the label's first artist. Jackie released his second CD “Gone Wandering” in 2002; winning him a California music award as Best Blues Roots album. In 2004 he released “Sweet Somewhere Bound” and received radio play with singles“Honey I Been Thinking About You” and “Seven Jealous Sisters”. In early 2005 Greene got signed with blues label Verve Forecast and the label released “Sweet Somewhere Bound". In 2006 he released “American Myth” his first major label release.
