Junya Nakano (仲野 順也 ,Nakano Jun'ya?, born February 28, 1971) is a Japanese video game composer and musician who has worked for Square Enix since 1995. He is perhaps best-known for scoring Threads of Fate and co-composing Final Fantasy X.

Junya Nakano was born in Kyoto, Japan. His parents introdusced him to music when he was three years old, giving him lessons in the electric organ. After playing the 1979 title Lunar Rescue, he developed an interest in video games and subsequently began to enjoy chiptune music. By frequently listening to the radio, he started composing MIDI music using the NEC PC-9801 in 1985. In 1987, he attended a vocational school to study composition and arrangement in hope of entering the gaming industry. After graduation, he was employed at the Kobe branch of Konami in 1991, where he contributed music to eight arcade games with several collaborators over a three-year period. Deciding he wanted to create more original music and have a chance to receive individual recognition, Nakano left Konami after completing the score for Golfing Greats 2 in 1994.

Nakano joined Square (later Square Enix) in 1995. His notable works include Treasure Conflix (1996), Another Mind (1998), and Threads of Fate (1999). He has also collaborated on the soundtracks to Final Fantasy X (2001) (with Nobuo Uematsu and Masashi Hamauzu) and Musashi: Samurai Legend (2005) (with Masashi Hamauzu, and Takayuki Iwai Yuki Iwai of Wavelink Zeal). He created a few tracks (among other composers) for Front Mission: Gun Hazard and Tobal No. 1 in 1996. Nakano was reported to have left Square Enix after his work on Final Fantasy X to go compose for Asmik Ace Entertainment. However, he is now once again working for Square Enix. Read more on Last.fm.
