Forty-four year old Rex Paul Schnelle has played guitar since the age of seven, soaking up the rich musical diversity from the Texas Hill Country from his native home of Marble Falls, Texas, to his favorite 2nd home town of Austin, Texas. Obviously, living in Austin, he was indelibly affected by the great Texas guitar players, from Eric Johnson to Stevie Ray Vaughn, Billy Gibbons to Ray Benson, and a host of other notables.

He gigged and recorded in Austin as a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist songster from 1983 to 1989. In 1989, he and his wife Deborah moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he worked as an artist, writer and musician for Sony Music, and since then has produced or played on over 3000 recordings, mostly demos he both played on and produced for Sony Music Publishing and other publishing companies. Deborah, his wife, had the most significant success with the CCM group Sierra, being a founding member and retiring from that group in 2000.

Over Rex's career he has made recordings with Randy Bachmann of BTO fame, Jack Blades of Night Ranger and Damn Yankees fame, Jon Bon Jovi, Merle Haggard, Brooks and Dunn, Olivia Newton John, Jim Brickman, Tim McGraw, Jerry Reed, Waylon Jennings and a host of hall-of-fame writers and performers. He has also played live in the US, Sweden, Norway, Italy and the Netherlands with various artists as a sideman musician and singer. The solo artist was being groomed to launch out on his own.

The first record was Prodigal, a bedrock of progressive songcrafting overlaid with prodigious guitar playing. The next record, Hero Shuffle, was a once in a lifetime watershed record. With guests Eric Johnson, Phil Keaggy and Dann Huff, his dream of a lifetime has come true. In addition to blistering rock guitar solos, the record never lacks in hooky rock and pop song crafting. In fact, many fans are initially attracted to the songs and writing, later finding out that Rex also played most all the instruments and engineered the record as well. Rockers of the world can unite behind this prodigious rock guitar driven album.

The brand new record, Surfin' In A Hurricane, again finds Rex crafting progressive rock brilliance, except this time the edge is harder. Phil Keaggy guests on a couple of tracks, and Rex will light your jets with fresh melodies, great lyrics and that trademark guitar prowess. But wait! That's not all! This site will continually upload new content Rex is involved in, like records he has produced, as well as instrumental singles with Rex and Phil Keaggy, other instrumentals, acoustic performances, very special other guests, videos, some other undiscovered artists, and a lot more.
