Dylan Black is a singer/songwriter from the small town, Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. At age 12 he started singing and playing guitar for fun. Without much talent at all, Dylan kept playing until he got better and better.
Not having played any shows before, Dylan got up in front of a crowd of about 200 people to sing at a local event called "Valley Idol". From then on, Dylan knew music was his passion.
He started writing songs after that. Not good ones though. Later on, during the summer of 2009, he got dumped. So then a song came; a good one. Then another, and another... And from then on, his songwriting got better. He started learning how to write songs, instead of forcing them out.
Though his first songs were mainly about girls and break-ups, or love songs, he started to write about more than just "love" and break-ups.
In 2009, Dylan decided he wanted to record his songs, so he started to record them at home, in his room. After that, he record a couple with a friend who actually owned some recording equipment. After that, he went to Sun King Studio; a local studio owned by someone he knew. After recording 3 songs there, Dylan knew what he wanted to do. He wanted to go to a professional. So he did.
In February of 2011, Dylan went to a place called The Closet Studios in Tulsa, OK. He teamed up with the producer, Kendal Osborne and recorded a 5 song EP that exceeded all of his expectations.
On May 9, he released his first single "How Many Times" on Facebook, MySpace, and YouTube. He recieved more publicity than expected from it. Over night, he gained at least 50 new Facebook fans and hundreds of song plays.
On June 21, 2011, Dylan Black's, "Love and Be Loved EP" was released on hard copies. And in July, it was distributed digitally on iTunes, Amazon MP3, Last.fm, Rhapsody, CD Baby, and many more music websites.
Dylan still continues to regularly play shows around Oklahoma, in high hopes to one day get discovered.
