Listed as one of the 10 “young drummers to watch” by the New York Times in 2009, Percussionist/composer Mike Pride (b. 1979) was raised in the Portland, Maine area. He studied composition and jazz at the University of Southern Maine and with Matt Wilson and Les Harris, Jr., & performed with legendary jazz educator David Baker.
Mike moved to New York City in the year 2000 to study at the New School of Jazz & Contemporary Music and later began studying privately with the legendary percussionist/free-jazz icon, Professor, Milford Graves.
Since his move, Mike Pride has been featured on over 60 recording - as a sideman or leader - for many of the world’s leading record labels including: NotTwo (Poland), Tzadik, Clean Feed (Portugal), Cadence, CIMP & Doubt Music (Japan) among many others.
Mike has performed and recorded throughout North America, Europe, Asia, & Australia with many of the worlds most varied & important musicians, bands & composers including:

An experienced educator, Pride has been teaching in NYC since 2001.
