Julie Kuhl is a German singer. She was born in 2005 in Châtillon-sur-Seine, France, and grew up in the Frankfurt am Main region of Germany.

Early Career
She started singing in choirs as a child and learned piano, guitar, and viola. From an early age, she wrote her own songs, supported by a family environment that encouraged her musical development.
At around 15, Julie released her first single, “Where Seabirds Scream,” followed by her debut album Flowers & Candles, which she recorded independently at home. She primarily sings in English, feeling it to be more authentic for her musical expression.

Breakthrough with Born With Nostalgic Bones
In November 2022, at the age of 17, Julie released her second album, Born With Nostalgic Bones, on Frankfurt-based label Jazz Montez Records. She became the youngest recipient of funding from Initiative Musik at the time. The album blends indie soul, folk-pop, and intimate singer-songwriter styles, balancing danceable rhythms with introspective moments.

Recent Projects
At the end of 2024, she released the EP Clouds of Grief, produced by Gianni Brezzo, which explores themes of grief, vulnerability, loss, and hope. Julie performs live with a trio, including her brother Lasse on guitar and drummer Felix Lothwesen.

Style and Themes

Her music sits between indie, soul, and pop songwriting. Her voice is clear, expressive, and often quietly intense. Lyrics deal with personal experiences, inner struggles, longing, and melancholy.
