Ray's Vast Basement's new lineup is mixing album number four, a major sonic departure. Release is due for fall of '09.
The band has toured the U.S. numerous times and performed with Mountain Goats, Dosh, Marissa Nadler, Thao With The Get Down Stay Down, Black Swans, Jolie Holland, Thee More Shallows, Gris Gris, The Instruments, Horsefeathers, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Laura Gibson, The Dry Spells, Black Fiction, Carissa's Wierd, Charles Atlas, Michael Zapruder, Snowblink and many others.
The first two full-lengths, 'By a River Burning Blue' and 'On the Banks of the Time,' are about a fictional northern California town called Drakesville and a cave by the name of 'Ray's Vast Basement'. Both are out of print, but some good reading can be found by doing a search here: http://www.aquariusrecords.org.
The third disc is a soundtrack to a staged production of John Steinbeck's 'Of Mice and Men,' which ran for 16 weeks at the Actors Theatre of San Francisco. Limited copies of 'Starvation Under Orange Trees' (Howells Transmitter/2007) available: http://howellstransmitter.com/rvb.html
