Before singing, Anisa danced Indian and Chutney music. She won the 1996 National Mashramani Competitions in Guyana for the 14-17 age category, though she was only 13 at that time. This is where she received the name "Princess", and it has stuck with her ever since.
Singing Soca, Chutney, Reggae, Filmi and everything in between (even Spanish and Portuguese), her versatility has enabled her to sing with Dil-E-Nadaan, JMC 3Veni, Karma, N2, Wave Band, and more. She has shared the stage many other top performers, including Hitman, Anand Yankarran, Sonny Man, The Tradewinds, Sean Paul, and Calypso Rose, just to name a few.
Today, Princess Anisa is the lead Female singer for The Supertones Band, USA’s most toured International Chutney Soca band, led by Avinash Singh. She is most popular today for her hit single, "Tek Sunita (Nadia's Reply)", which won Video of the Year at the 2011 West Indian Music Awards. Anisa has also taken home the trophy for “Female Singer of the Year” at the 2013 West Indian Music Awards. Her music has taken her to Toronto, Montreal, all over the US, Guyana, Holland, London, Suriname, and Spain. For 2015, she will be adding more to that list touring with The Supertones Band... being one of the many Guyanese performers contributing to our West Indian culture around the world.
