Somewhere up there your favorite long-gone artist is creating music the likes of which our mortal ears cannot comprehend. We pay homage to these souls of a bygone era with a seance of classic rock, blues, soul, and funk written from the perspective of inanimate objects of nature and creatures apart from ourselves.
In the past 5 years the band has managed to win a battle of the bands competition, open for Willie Nelson (twice), get 2 guitar sponsorships from both Dean and Luna Guitars and their song, "Let Me Believe" won an Independent Music Award for Best Song in the Blues category. With bluesy-rock vocals, dual lead guitars, slide guitars, 3 part harmonies, and a drum and bass dynamic duo rumored to be one of the most sought-after in Austin, Meagan Tubb & Shady People knock the wind out of you as you just realized you were still breathing. ..
“Roses may be red and violets may be blue, but you can see those flowers any time you like, I’m only here once in a blue moon”, Meagan Tubb is a rare breed of female artist with her own enticing scent. This singer/songwriter/guitar player tirelessly strives to convey messages of hope, belief; and life observations of God, herself, nature, love, and relationships through unexpected vantage points within her songs. Stewed in the blues with vintage rock as the main ingredient, add a dash of funk, and serve with a “secret sauce”, Meagan draws from many styles to coalesce her own distinct musical flavor.
She is often compared to Sheryl Crow, Tracy Bonham, Fiona Apple, and Grace Slick in vocal style, ability, and technique while her guitar playing is carved out from the masters of the trade such as Jimmy Hendrix, Shuggie Otis, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page. She walks that fine line between accessibility and obscurity when it comes to her songwriting; relying upon memories, dreams, occurrences and mostly her own imagination to render the central themes to her songs.
Since moving to Austin from San Diego, she has found a powerful band to bring her latest inventions to the stage. She is joined by Wilson Carr on bass and back up vocals; Jason Nunnencamp from Red McFunk on back up vocals, lead, rhythm, and slide guitar; and John Duran on drums from the band the Heat Merchants.
