Nejat Alp (b. 1952, Istanbul) is generally regarded as being one of the pioneers of synth-driven Turkish ambient folk. He began his professional career in 1969 by playing bass for various supporting bands in the most elegant clubs of Istanbul. In 1978 he changed his primary instrument from bass to keyboards and with help of his Neil Tennant-like naturally vocoded voice quickly rose to prominence while performing at "Club 33" in Erenköy, Istanbul.

1979 was a turning point in his career since for the first time in his life he began playing at Tarabya. While playing at various clubs at Tarabya for more than a decade he became one of the pioneers of the unique genre called as Tarabya school of electronic music with fellow artists like Arif Susam, Ümit Besen and of course Cengiz Kurtoğlu.
