Murley Shertz is a Chicago-based Blues-Rock-Jam band consisting of multi-instrumental talents Ryan Curtis (Vocals/Guitar), Dave Wilson (Vocals/Drums), Scott Burdsall (Tenor Sax/Vocals/Guitar), and Travis Hall (Bass). Influenced by bands such as Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Beatles, Umphrey's McGee, Paul Simon, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Coffin, Soulive, Frank Catalano, The Police, and Jeff Buckley , the band brings their unique sound wherever they go.

What started as a 2005 summer break project between local musicians attending University of Iowa, Indiana University, Columbia College, and Berklee School of Music, Murley Shertz has become a serious band since moving to Chicago full time last year.

Murley Shertz has established themselves as a music lovers' band by blending their unique style and instrumentation together to create an indescribable, but welcoming sound. The band has been rocking the Chicago area for the past three years with their tasteful covers and unique original songs, creating a steady following of fans. Their on-stage energy is enough to transform any crowd into a group of live music fanatics. The band mostly resembles the rawness of early Led Zeppelin mixed with thoughtful melodies and hooks. But just when you think you've got Murley Shertz figured out, they'll write a Steely Dan-esque tune with intricate saxophone and keyboard-driven chord progressions.

They are currently working on an EP at Gravity Studios (Umphrey's McGee, Ben Kweller) to follow up their independently produced & recorded album "Welcome to Murley Shertz." With the release of their self-produced album, the band is ready to expand their audience by sharing the music they've created and love. The album captures the raw energy of a Chicago Bar band mixed with the maturity and finesse of a Midwest band. Their new, currently untitled EP looks to be released Winter 2009.

During their live shows they have been known to cover artists such as Paul Simon, Umphrey’s McGee, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Led Zeppelin. As Murley Shertz grows and progresses, they invite you to come along and discover "good music" again.
