Baby Hold On to Me (feat. Eddie Levert) Lyrics

(featuring Eddie Levert)

All your friends are telling you
You should have a fancy car and diamond rings
But Girl you know all good things come in time

Girl you know I'll do just about anything
To see a smile upon your face
So don't let your friends go messing with
your mind

Girl you know there ain't nothing
I won't do for you and Baby don't
Don't ever doubt my love 'cause it's true

Baby hold on to me
See I'm a special kind
A man that is hard to find
Told you a thousand times
Baby hold on to me

Repeat 1

Oh Girl wasn't I there when he made you cry
And who was there to comfort you
When he said bye bye bye bye bye Baby

Girl I give you my time here is my money
All of my heart and you'll be so sorry Baby
If we were to ever part
And Girl you know
That I would never hurt you
And Girl you know
That I would never desert you

Better hold on to me
See I'm a special knid
A man that is hard to find
Told you a thousand times
Baby hold on to me

Repeat 1

I wanna be everthing that you need
And I promise yes I promise Baby
To be there for you baby

Repeat 1

(Ad lib)

Repeat 1 three times

(vamp)

Gerald Levert (July 13 1966 - November 10 2006) was an rhythm and blues singer, one of several from the musical Levert family. His father, Eddie Levert, is the lead singer of the 1970s soul group The O'Jays. Gerald Levert sang with his brother, Sean Levert, and Marc Gordon in the R&B trio LeVert. He was also a member of LSG, an R&B trio also featuring Johnny Gill and Keith Sweat

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Levert scored big hits with "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Casanova", and "ABC-123" (not to be confused with the Jackson Five hit of the same name). As a solo artist, Gerald's hits included "I'd Give Anything (to Fall in Love)", "You Got That Love", and "Mr. Too Damn Good to You".

Gerald and Eddie collaborated together on many different occasions, and they recorded an album called Father and Son together.

Gerald Levert also sang the chorus on the Chris Rock spoken-word comedy piece, "No Sex (In the Champagne Room)".

In 2005, Levert's daughter Carlysia was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen.

Levert passed away due to an apparent heart attack on November 10, 2006. Sister 2 Sister magazine reported that Gerald and his father had just returned from a 10-day trip to South Africa where they had met with Nelson Mandela and were treated like royalty. Upon Gerald's return, he was excited about his upcoming album, which is due early in 2007. Gerald died in his sleep. Read more on Last.fm.
