Geert Chatrou, Whistler. In april 2004 and 2005 he won the world championship whistling, a yearly championship held at Louisburg, North Carolina.

Geert Chatrou is full of wind. He plays the recorder, the flute, the alto saxophone and the oboe. He is also the Whistling World Champion.

Chatrou is married and father of three kids. He works at a crisis center for psychiatric patients and drug addicts. That's his day job, but he is also a talented musician and lover of classical, jazz and pop music. And a cheerful chap who likes to whistle which he does very well. So, when his sister-in-law heard about the whistling world championship in the United States, she entered Chatrou and urged him to go to Louisburg, North Carolina.

In April 2004, Chatrou impressed the jury with his whistled version of a recorder concerto by Vivaldi and a recorder sonata by Händel in the classical division. In the category popular he whistled two pieces composed by Dutch composers; “Puszta, Puszta” by Jos v/d Dungen and “Fingerprints” by Beeftink. With his renditions he finally blew away the 27 other finalists.
