Through the cosmic waist of the sun, the renewal of Argentine folktronica takes another turn: the movement is regional in scope and is a continent for a strong, female presence that shapes the Buenos Aires scene. There is Dat García, one of the freshest and most captivating artists of the moment.

Dat Garcia is an Argentinean singer, producer, composer, activist and performer. Her music and activism focus on female empowerment and the vindication of non-hegemonic beauty. It is in the peripheries where the vital energy of movement and cultural transformation materialises.

She is one of the most influential producers of Latin American music today and one of the spokespersons and storytellers of the new movement of women who question traditional values in order to revalue body consciousness.

Early on, Dat Garcia joins the Latin American folkfuturist movement, where its most relevant producers have composed pieces mixing traditional rhythms with electronica. Garcia takes this legacy and takes it further by constructing short lyrical narratives adding subtle forays into Hip Hop, Pop and Electroclash. All of this wrapped with sounds from her collection, including self played instruments, synthesizers, Andean charangos and flutes, coexist harmoniously in this electrofolk for the 21st century. She explores intoxicating downtempo rhythms that quickly turn into a dance party, accompanied by a strong aesthetic content, from the costumes to the visuals and performative and sensorial interventions of all kinds, making her show an artistic installation.

2019 was a decisive year in Dat Garcia's career having been selected for showcases at international fairs such as FIMPRO Guadalajara and WOMEX Finland, conquering new audiences around the world, giving shows, conferences and workshops in Europe, Latin America and the United States.
