Can't Stay Lyrics

Girl, I gotta go, I can't stay
You said things would change
But girl, things are still the same
Girl, I gotta go, I can't stay

We stay together putting the front on
I'd rather be on my own
When we first met things were fine
We went out to dine

We strolled the beach
Holding hands sharing quality time
What happened between then and now
The love we shared was lost somehow

My friends tried to tell me
That we're moving too fast
But how could I know the feelings would pass
It wouldn't last

I know I should have left a long time ago
But I stayed to see
Still hoping and praying you still love me

Girl, I gotta go, I can't stay
You said things would change
But girl, things are still the same
Girl, I gotta go, I can't stay

Listen, I took you in treated your children as mine
Then we laid and made love
And you had my son what a precious time

I did all that I could to get through to you
To let you know girl it's you I was living for
(But you let your mind, play games on you)

Then when I'm not around
You think that I don't know
That you're passing time
With the guy next door

I gave you all that I had
You didn't love me one ounce
So like a basket ball I gotta bounce

Girl, I gotta go, I can't stay
You said things would change
But girl, things are still the same
Girl, I gotta go, I can't stay

Listen, baby can you tell me
Where I went wrong? yeah
All I ever wanted, baby, baby, baby
Was a happy home to call my own

I can't take no more
(No doubt)
So I'm telling you, bye bye, bye bye
Bye bye, bye bye

Girl, I gotta go, I can't stay
You said things would change
But girl, things are still the same
Girl, I gotta go, I can't stay

Break it down, break it down
'Cause I wanna talk to my people this evening
Come on and let 'em know it takes a fool to learn
(It takes a fool)

That love don't love nobody
That's why I can truly say in my heart
Love don't live here
(Love don't live here anymore)

Good God Almighty
Baby, you hurt me so bad
But, I'm mighty grateful
Love don't live here
(Love don't live here anymore)

It's alright, it's okay
Gonna move on anyone
(I can move on)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Baby you hurt me so bad
I gotta move on
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I gotta go I gotta leave, baby
'Cause love don't live here
I think I leave it alone now
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yahoo, hmm

Dave Hollister, cousin of music act K-Ci and JoJo, started developing fame as a musician in the early 1990s. Some of his biggest early appearances were with 2Pac on tracks like "Brenda's Got A Baby."

His next big move was when he was signed to Teddy Riley's R&B group BLACKstreet in 1994. He worked with the group on their first album and then left the group to pursue his own solo career. He was signed to DreamWorks Records and began working on an album.

In 1999, Hollister released his first albumm, Ghetto Hymns. The album was successful, going gold, and creating one hit single, "My Favorite Girl." "My Favorite Girl" reached #10 on the R&B charts.

Hollister's follow-up album, Chicago '85... The Movie was released in 2000. The album was an autobiographical work and went gold. "One Woman Man" the album's biggest single, reached #8 on the R&B charts.

For his third effort, Hollister moved to Motown Records. He hoped the new label would instill new energy into his music. The album, Things In the Game Done Changed was released in 2002 and faired poorly on the charts and radio.

As a result of the album's shortcomings, Hollister returned to DreamWorks where he released Real Talk in 2003. Following the album's release, Hollister moved to Gospo Centric.

Hollister is reportedly wrapping up his fifth album in the industry, The Book of David: Vol. 1 The Transition. The album will be coming out on September 26, 2006 from Gospo Centric.
