Dark Orchard is the brainchild of award winning drummer / percussionist, Jim Casson. It is a unique combination of ambient grooves, vintage sounds and conversation.

The first Dark Orchard CD was released in 2012 and garnered critical acclaim and a nomination for instrumentalist of the year at the Niagara Music Awards. It received airplay on college radio from coast to coast in Canada and in the US. It was unique in that in combined the sound of grooves performed on farm equipment combined with orchestration and conversation.

The new Dark Orchard CD, “Blossom”, is an evolution from the first CD to a more accessible sound using vintage keyboards and cool drum grooves. The multiple language conversations are still there as well as some of the farm equipment.

Jim Casson began his professional musical career in 1985 while completing the Applied Music Program at Mohawk College in Hamilton, ON. He has toured throughout North America, and Europe with acts such as Downchild Blues Band, The Official Blues Brothers Revival, Rita Chiarelli, Amy Sky, Sue Foley, Heather Dale, and literally hundreds of others. He has performed on over 60 albums. He has won Maple Blues Awards and Jazz Report Awards and has nominations for Juno and Genie Awards.
