Las Vegas based, Kevin Barber was born and raised in the heat and fog of the Big Valley of central California and moved along to live and play in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, San Francisco, Portland, OR and Las Vegas. Influenced by an eclectic mix of music from Presely to Booker T, to James Brown to Ellington & Miles, Kevin developed a vintage and warm tone. His big body guitars, finger picking, blues lines, soul chords and jazz progressions create a unique Roots/Americana sound.
His music has been played world-wide on college, fm & am radio stations, including world famous KROQ in Los Angeles, used in radio commercials and independent films, has appeared with national acts including Fishbone. Other highlights include recording at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis TN (story here), appearances and headlines at the Coconut Teaser on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, CA, on Nashville's Broadway, on the Las Vegas Strip, the Oregon Convention Center, the Historic Columbia Gorge Hotel in Hood River, OR and enjoyed residencies at Maryhill Winery in Goldendale, WA, throughout McMenamins Empire, & MacTarnahan's Taproom in Portland, OR.
A 20-plus-year player, and student of Telecaster virtuoso & The Little Willies (fronted by Norah Jones) guitarist, Jim Campilongo, and guitar legend, Bill Harkleroad (Zoot Horn Rollo he continues to search out and find the right note for the right time.
