The Barefaced Cheek started with Max Mayhew and Oli Robinson, who had been jamming for years in various bands with no evidential success. With no drummer they called upon Sam Thomason, recommended by their current manager, Robin Henderson. After the bassist, Lloyd Allen, left the band, Robin then suggested the great David King. With David employed on bass, the last piece of the puzzle was in place.

After some intense song-writing, they established a sound different from anyone they had ever heard. With so many contrasting influences they created music which they all loved and used it to send messages through Sam’s lyrics. Each week Max would walk in with something new, random and different, while Oli tried to gather up exactly what was going on. David seemed quite happy on his amp (or behind it), while Sam let himself flow onto paper.

Now with an arsenal of songs up their sleeves, a new one is being born almost each week, and they continue to play a variety of gigs to perfect their stage presence in preparation for their hopeful success in the future.
