Daydreamin' (feat. Jill Scott) Lyrics

Daydream
(Daydream)
I fell asleep beneath the flowers
(I fell asleep beneath the flowers)

For a couple of hours
(For a couple of hours)
On a beautiful day
(On a beautiful day)

Daydream
(Daydream)
I dream of you amid the flowers
(I dream of you amid the flowers)

For a couple of hours
(For a couple of hours)
Such a beautiful day
(Such a beautiful day)

As I spy from behind my Giant Robot's eyes
I keep him happy, 'cause I might fall out if he cries
Scared of heights so I might pass out if he flies
Keep him on autopilot, 'cause I can't drive

Room enough for one I tell my homies they can't ride
Unless they sittin' on the shoulders but that's way too high
Let's try not to step on the children
The news camera's filmin', this walkin' project buildin'

Now there's hoes sellin' hoes like right around the toes
And the crackheads beg at about the lower leg
There's crooked police that's stationed at the knees
And they do drive-bys like up and down the thighs

And there's a car chase goin' on at the waist
Keep a vest on my chest
I'm sittin' in my room as I'm lookin' out the face
Somethin' to write about
I still got some damage from fightin' the White House, just a

I fell asleep beneath the flowers
(I fell asleep beneath the flowers)

For a couple of hours
(For a couple of hours)

(On a beautiful day)

Daydream
(Daydream)
I dream of you amid the flowers
(I dream of you amid the flowers)

For a couple of hours
(For a couple of hours)
Such a beautiful day
(Such a beautiful day)

Now come on everybody, let's make cocaine cool
We need a few more half naked women up in the pool
And hold this MAC-10 that's all covered in jewels
And can you please put your titties closer to the 22s?

And where's the champagne? We need champagne
Now look as hard as you can with this blunt in your hand
And now hold up your chain, slow motion through the flames
Now cue the smoke machines and the simulated rain

But not too loud, 'cause the baby's sleepin'
I wonder if it knows what the world is keepin'
Up both sleeves while he lay there dreamin'
Me and my robot, tip-toe 'round creepin'

I had to turn my back on what got you paid
I couldn't see half the hood on me like Abu Gharib
But I'd like to thank the streets that drove me crazy
And all the televisions out there that raised me, I was

(Daydream)
I fell asleep beneath the flowers
(I fell asleep beneath the flowers)

For a couple of hours
(For a couple of hours)
On a beautiful day
(On a beautiful day)

Daydream

I dream of you amid the flowers
(I fell asleep beneath the flowers)

For a couple of hours
(For a couple of hours)
Such a beautiful day
(Such a beautiful day)

I fell asleep beneath the flowers
(I fell asleep beneath the flowers)

For a couple of hours

I dream of you amid the flowers
(Fell asleep beneath the flowers)

For a couple of hours
(For a couple of hours)
Such a beautiful day
(Such a beautiful day)

Wasalu Muhammad Jaco (born February 16, 1982 in Chicago, Illinois), better known by his stage name Lupe Fiasco, is a Grammy Award-winning American hip-hop artist and producer. He first became known to the mainstream hip-hop community in 2005 when he appeared on Kanye West's album Late Registration on the track "Touch the Sky." In 2006 Lupe released his debut album, Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor on Atlantic Records, and in December 2007 he released his second full length album, Lupe Fiasco's The Cool . His next studio album, entitled Lasers, was released on March 8th 2011 after a protest against Atlantic's decision not to release it.

The Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free) Songfacts reports that Fiasco’s first single off his fourth studio album, Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 debuted on May 21, 2012. On "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)," he spits rhymes about aspects of modern American life he doesn’t like such as "Suicide bombers and prosperity gospels, emaciated models, with cocaine and blood pouring out their nostrils” as well as socio-political problems in Ghana and the invasion of Iraq.

Lupe released his fifth studio album "Tetsuo & Youth" on January 20, 2015.

Lupe has previously been on label Epic with his group Da Pak and then signed a solo deal with Arista. His years at Arista only led to the 2003 promo single "Pop Pop" as well as guest appearances on singles from Tha' Rayne (2002's "Kiss Me" and 2003's "Didn't You Know") and K Fox (2003's "This Life"), then Arista folded in 2004 and Lupe was signed to Atlantic Records.
