Gliiico is Kio, Kai and Nico de Torres a rock band of three brothers from Vancouver, Canada currently based in Tokyo, Japan.
The band debut in March 2020 when they released "Around" formed out of quarantine boredom, then the boys started in 2021, drawing from an eclectic blend of sonic influences, from the Strokes to Kanye West and Justice to Tatsuro Yamashita. Gliiico has supported international acts such as Khruangbin, Phoenix and many more on their Japan tours off the strength of their demos.
They have a collaboration album “Ephemeral” with japanese hip-hop artist Loota.
Gliiico is able to mix various cultural influences and bridge Western and anglophone music with Japan’s current music scene. Exploring themes of nostalgia, sentimentality, and playfulness, their tunes reminisce of good times just as much as bad times, like an ode to familiarity and the comfort in letting go. Gliiico is just taking its first steps as a band, but the De Torres brothers are, without doubt, one of the most promising bands of modern music.
