David was born in the recently renewed city of Stirling in the heart of Scotland in February 1990.He was brought up in the nearby town of Denny where he found his love of traditional music and singing Flower O' Scotland at family parties and get togethers. His family say he could hold a tune even when he was three years old. When he was a bit older he branched out into listening to guitar bands.Mainly older bands like The Beatles,Slade,The Sweet, the Jam and The Move and because of this he wanted to play like them.He learned to play on a battered acoustic guitar when he had just turned eleven. He learned the basics from his father and was self taught after the first day.
He played publicly with a brand new guitar in local jam sessions playing covers of Beatles songs and eventually as he got older he grew out of local bars and progressed onto writing his own material. The first showcasing of his singing and songwriting talents was held in August 2006 at the shabby Liquid Lounge club in Glasgow which has since been shut down.A sixteen year old who probably wasn't even allowed in the venue played away for a good hour captivating his audience of a hundred or so.David then played around local venues supporting acts such as The Hazey Janes and The Endrick Brothers.Later in the year after only 4 months of playing live he played Edinburghs Liquid Rooms landing an impressive support slot with The Complete Stone Roses.Playing to over 700 people on that night it was clear things were going to get bigger and brighter. He was offered a slot at Glasgows Nice and Sleazys alongside a then tiny band named The Pigeon Detectives.David jumped at the chance but unfortunatley cancelled due to illness 3 weeks beforehand which he now regrets very much as they are massive around the world performing on sell out tours!A little bit of consolation came when he supported Mark McLelland of Snow Patrol (before he was chucked out of the band) who said "What a brilliant voice you have" and his music attracted the attention of good venues around the Central area of Scotland.
Back in May 2007 David supported a little known band named the Draytones who shared a label with The View in Stirlings Fubar which led onto an offer for a support slot with The Bluetones, which he turned down.David then released his debut single on iTunes,Napster and other major download sources in October 2007 which has since been going strong and selling well.
The Complete Stone Roses asked David to support them once more in Edinburgh on the account of his mindblowing performance in the previous year and this time was around the performance was even better resulting in a two night slot at Glasgows Carling Academy.Just over a year ago he was playing in sleazy bars to ten people but this time it was a glorious giant venue filled with two thousand five hundred indie head revellers and he wasn't going to let it slip away from him.Recently Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub said that he loved Davids music and he was definetley a fan!David supported the Seahorses legendary singer Chris Helme in march 2008 as well as supporting the Complete Stone Roses (again) and The Phantoms. So look out for him if you see a tour poster in your town because in a few years time you will be saying that you could've seen the whites of his eyes.
