EVAN GAMBLE LEWIS
(a.k.a. Evan Lewis)
grew up from a middleclass family in New England. His mother is an accomplished blues singer/guitarist who surrounded him with musicians, instruments, and recording studios. At the age of seven, he began to play the guitar, and experimented with synthesizer sequencing.
By the age of twelve Evan's taste in music wandered away from blues, and more toward metal, punk, industrial, and electronica. During this shift in his musical taste, he began to edit audio using some of the first wave editing PC software as well as three cassette tape decks with volume sliders for his own mix tape collection.
Halfway into his sixteenth year, Evan saved up all the money he made from his job at the grocery store and (piece by piece), built himself a make-shift DJ rig. He learned to DJ on unmatching belt drive turntables that (most likely) were not to be used for beat matching. The hard work from his practice sessions paid off around his eighteenth year when he met Arun Ranganathan who then owned an underground music shop called "The Music Exchange". Arun Took interest in Evan's talent and helped him to grow as a turntablist, as well as an artist. Evan then joined Arun's production crew from Middletown, Connecticut called "Connectbeats". The experience broadened his mind through experimental collaborations, which laid a strong yet humble foundation for him to launch his creativity.
By the age of twenty-one Lewis’ accomplishments with Connectbeats landed him MTV interviews, horror/snowboarding movie scores, and a nine-month European tour headlining over 50 massive techno, trance, and breakbeat parties such as "History of the Love Parade", "Double Impact", and "Summer Marathon Parada Bitu" in mega clubs such as Kanty, Poland's 1 techno club, Sfinks, Planeta, Klimate, and the list goes on.
Now back in the USA, Evan Gamble Lewis' DJ, production, and engineering technique has been in high demand with many producers, artists, and promoters. Currently, Evan has been working very hard to perfect his sound, releasing over 20 tracks in the past 2 years with his name on projects with such legends as Omar Santana, Superstar DJ Keoki, Decoding Jesus, Sonic Trip, and Rabbit in the Moon.
