Eli Mellul spent the first nine years of his life in Morocco and then moved to Israel where his father was chief rabbi of Or Akiva. As a young man he served in the Israeli Army during the Yom Kippur War and rose to the rank of captain. His destiny however was not with military. Eli's main love was and is music.

Mellul subsequently worked as a cantor in France and Bolivia. Today this internationally known recording artist serves as cantor of Congregation Agudath Achim, a Modern Orthodox shul in Boro Park. Mellul has been in the United States on settling Brooklyn.

Although his native tongue is Arabic, he sings in Hebrew, Spanish and French, and his repertoire including Israeli, Chasidic, Yemenite and Ladino folk and religious songs. Mellul has performed around the United States and goes to Israel, Morocco and Europe to sing on a regular basis.

Mellul has experimented with fusing traditional music with western music in the past but none of his albums had a true rock feel before Morrock Rocks. Drawing equal inspiration from the Morrocan roots of his childhood and the classic rock and hard rock he has always loved, Eli joined forces with FearCage guitarist, Dominick Barone, and dynamic keyboardist, Peter Francovilla to form the Eli Mellul project. Sung in Hebrew, Morrock Rocks is full of passion and conviction like the man himself. Ancient, modern and deep. Read more on Last.fm.
