Elijah Lyrics

We are people looking for
A new and promise land
Found him with fire and rain
Crossing desert sand

We were right, the moonlit night
Never stop for days
Oh, we are of the chosen few
Elijah knew the way

He would turn the tide for us
Lead us from temptation
And when we reach the promise land
He will witness our creation
He will witness our creation

With fire we fight the red man's bow
With strenght we steals his rights
Oh, we did not know what we were
We followed Elijah's plight

The path was straight and to the point
Destiny would bring
Another time, another place
Another moonlit king

Chorus

Oh Elijah, oh oh oh
Oh Elijah, oh oh oh

Oh lead us to the Shepherd's call
Every step is long
And when you feel it in your soul
Please help us with this song, oh

Oh Elijah, oh oh oh
(Numerous repeats)

Oooooohhhoooohhoohohohohohohoh
EEllliiiiiiijaaaaahhhhh

Oh Elijah, oh oh oh
Oh Elijah
Oh Elijah, oh oh oh aaaaahhh

Head East was a hard rock quintet originally from south central Illinois, then Champaign, Illinois, USA. They released their first album, Flat as a Pancake, in 1974 on their own record label (Pyramid Records) selling all 5,000 records and 500 eight-tracks produced. A&M was impressed enough to sign the band and re-release the album in 1975 which went gold by 1978.

Flat as a Pancake would remain their most popular album spawning two charting singles, the well-known anthem "Never Been Any Reason" and "Love Me tonight", both written by guitarist Mike Somerville.

This lineup of John Schlitt (vocals), Mike Somerville (guitars), Roger Boyd (keyboards), Dan Birney (bass) and Steve Huston (drums) would last through four more studio albums and a double-LP live album when in 1980 Schlitt, Birney and Somerville left the band although Somerville would return for 1994 through 2003. By the mid-80’s, John Schlitt, had joined Petra, a christian rock band when lead singer Greg X. Volz left the band.

Roger Boyd took over leadership of the band for one mildly successful album, U.S. 1, and two more studio albums before the band became an oldies act Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
