There have been three bands known as The Crux.

The crux are a seven piece folk band from Santa Rosa, California. From their myspace:
.handcuffed to a mason jar of ancient sourdough starter, Timmy Redface had met his match until from on high a brown hatted galahad sallied forth and stormed yon gates of banal custom and paperwork and through and through sawed a harmonica tune, a dirge, a parade that called into being the fermented yeast of CRUX. Together these songmen forced criminals at gunpoint to join their merry band and help them stir and bake the precious dough of music and legend. Lind-say, priestess of the ivories was the first misbegotten bruiser to pull the chain and wail. Then came Dominic the Daring, who with much gusto slew the hungry beast of Shred and carried Madgie into the tomb again. Thank God. Aylan of the Bass was tricked into climbing aboard our ship wielding a deadly sword of ice. Our songs are punctuated by the jazz stylings and vocal armory of Zoer the Mower, formerly known as The Ravishing Flup. Then (oh no) Lindser and Aylan were transported through a devil deal to far reaches and we wandered... But (hurrah) The Briggs Man showed up in a poof of digital smoke and the Crux were off again to skewer you with music. Before long we gathered the talented barnacles of Adam (iconoclastic drums) and Ross (madman recording) and the heavens shook with delight. And then exit Briggs and enter Good Brother Justin W, with a mind like a musical onion. Rumour has it that Rae, mistress of the realm of Binah, will soon be joining us on the rampant stage. The Crux are a 4-piece Punk onslaught drawn together by a mutal love of irrelevance, and a general hatred of the apathy displayed by manchester current underground. The other "The Crux" (also known as Sal Paradise) were a Indy-Christian Australian band whose major influence is Pavement. Although not necessarily the most popular Australian Christian band in the early 1990s, they were probably the most influential, bringing weighty theological lyrics alongside a creative grunge and shoegazing style.

The Australian band Sal Paradise was the first non-American band on Tooth & Nail Records. 'Furthur' is their only release on T&N. The music is best described as indierock. The track that appeared on several samplers (Road Movie #57) is heavily influenced by the post-shoegazer noisepop of bands like Starflyer 59 and Morella's Forest, but the rest of the album is quite different.
In 1999 another Sal Paradise album called 'For You And Before You' is released on the independent Velvet Blue Music label (owned by former Starflyer 59 member Jeff Cloud). Although it's called 'Sal Paradise' it's not much more than a solo album by singer and band leader JJ Miller with some guest artists, including ex Sal Paradise member Rob Brown who does bg vocals on one song. This album contains mostly singer/songwriter songs with a much more religious character. Three of the songs also appeared on the first album.
