Los Angeles native Estevie fuses cumbia and regional Mexican traditions with youthful Latin pop. The Mexican-American singer had already been releasing music for several years when she landed on the idea of updating cumbia sonidera and norteña into her own contemporary mix in 2021. Collaborations with Eslabon Armado and DannyLux helped widen Estevie's exposure ahead of her 2023 EP Cumbialicious.

Born on February 4, 2003, in Los Angeles, Sarah Silva grew up traveling between California and Mexico. A love of music took hold at a young age, and in 2014, at the age of 11, she competed in the popular Mexican singing contest La Academia Kids, where she took second place. Her early inspirations came as much from Mexican stars like Jenni Rivera and Alicia Villareal as Americans like Gwen Stefani. During her teenage years, Silva recorded music under her given name, releasing a 2019 album, Mis Sentimientos, before taking on the Estevie moniker in 2020.

Early Estevie singles like "Supernatural" and "Teddy" skewed more toward American-influenced electronic pop, but with tracks like 2021's "Canela" and "Cumbia Loca," her cultural roots came to the fore, particularly her embrace of the cumbia form. Her success grew with singles like "La Cumbia del Cucuy" and a guest spot on Eslabon Armado's 2022 album Nostalgia, and in 2023 she collaborated with DannyLux on the ballad "Triste Verano," which delivering catchy Latin pop fusions of her own like "Santee." Her debut EP, Cumbialicious, arrived in September of that year and featured an eclectic array of styles as well as a collaboration with fellow Californian Cuco. Read more on Last.fm.
