Erwann Kermorvant was born in 1972, in Lorient, France. Being raised in a "musical" family, he studied the clarinet for ten years at the Ecole National de Musique et de Danse (ENMD) in his hometown. At the age of 18, he moved to Los Angeles to assist his first mentor, Ralph Grierson, a veteran Hollywood studio musician and composer. Grierson invited Erwann to assist on the recording session on the score for "Batman Returns", marking the start of what would be his career as a film composer.
Erwann went to the Grove School of Music and joined the UCLA Film Scoring Program, where he benefited from the experience of professionals such as Gerald Fried, Don B. Ray, Steven Scott Smalley, Jeff Rona and Mark Isham.
In 1994, Erwann returned to France and took on his first commissioned work for the ENMD of Lorient. In 1999, he moved to Paris, where he set up his own company, Karma Studio. His composing work varies between short movies, television movies, television series, and a dozen of feature films, including "36 Quai des Orfèvres", "I Do" ("Prête moi ta main"), "Mais qui a tué Pamela Rose ?", "La Première Etoile", "A Ticket to Space", "Un monde à nous", "Big City"... He recently composed the score for the critically acclaimed "Braquo", directed by Olivier Marchal (36 Quai des Orfèvres"). Read more on Last.fm.
