Afternoon Desires is a Chilean band formed in 2022 by Leo Arévalo (vocals, lyrics, music, production) and Criss Soriano (guitar, synths). Their musical proposal blends indie rock, ambient pop, soft rock, and dream pop, creating an emotional and immersive experience through deep sound layers, dreamlike reverberations, and an intimate voice that whispers more than it shouts.

Inspired by the aesthetics of black and white, enveloping landscapes, independent photography, and the emotional weight of thought and desire, their songs—sung entirely in English—address themes such as loss, love, heartbreak, nostalgia, and introspection.

With their recent EP DVRKSIDE (2024) and previous works, Afternoon Desires has consolidated its sonic signature: delicate yet intense, somber yet warm. With a careful and minimalist image, Afternoon Desires projects itself to international audiences, especially in Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, the US West Coast, and Europe, where its emotional and visual aesthetic finds a natural echo.

Today, they have added a new lineup with the arrival of Pablo Fuster on bass and Benjamín Rivera on drums, with which Afternoon Desires plans to bring its full essence and atmosphere to the live stage, with a new sound and interpretation that enhances all its characteristics.

For 2025, they are preparing their first full-length album, "The Weight of Silence", which will feature their characteristic sonic signature, adding more atmosphere, depth, and rhythm to what they have previously created. With this, they reinforce their place as one of the most evocative emerging bands on the Latin American indie scene.

The melancholic and atmospheric sound of Afternoon Desires combines enveloping textures and a minimalist aesthetic, evoking influences such as Cigarettes After Sex, Radiohead, Chris Cornell, Slowdive, Beach House, and Zola Blood, among others. Their stage presence is inspired by the style of the acclaimed MTV Unplugged series. Since their debut in 2022, they have captured the attention of listeners sensitive to emotional and visual detail, using resources like the sea and the city to convey the feelings they wish to transmit to their followers, positioning themselves as one of the most atmospheric and profound acts in South America.

The style of Afternoon Desires is characterized by its enveloping atmospheres, shoegaze-textured guitars, melancholic synthesizers, and introspective lyrics. The band aims to create soundscapes that evoke nostalgia and contemplation, merging the energy of post-punk with the delicacy of dream pop.

Afternoon Desires has released 4 singles and 2 EPs that include their most popular songs: "For You", "It's Too Late", and "Darkside", tracks that define the band's sonic art at its best. Their compositions, called "Textures & Atmospheres" and considered their "B-side", showcase their rawest and most characteristic sound.

They also included a cover of the band Cigarettes After Sex, "Cry", which has been very well received worldwide, being played in Asia, Russia, and European countries, surpassing 30,000 streams on Spotify as of June 2024.

Currently, they are producing their first full-length album, titled "The Weight of Silence", which will include 10 songs with which they seek to expand their atmospheric sound, incorporating more electric guitars, synthesizers, and new drum rhythms, while preserving their characteristic vocal style.
