Question: What is Andy Suzuki & The Method?

Answer: John Mayer meets Sara Bareilles. Imagine their half-Asian lovechild. Add an electric violinist who solos like a lead guitarist and a percussionist who swings his dreds harder than anyone ever asks him to.

The Story:
Andy Suzuki had a huge afro in high school. He even got it cornrowed a couple of times. Needless to this say, this was not a good look for a budding half-Japanese, half-Jewish musician.

Andy spent most of his teenage years belting Boyz II Men and Dru Hill alone in his bedroom, developing a smooth hint of R&B in his voice. He was sure that this was the kind of music he wanted to pursue. All that changed when he got his hands on some live recordings of Jason Mraz in his early, acoustic coffeehouse days. Suzuki cut off the fro, ditched his baggy jeans, and sat down at the piano.

Andy Suzuki started writing songs at Brown University. He expanded his sound by linking up with percussionist Kozza Babumba (grandson of Grammy-winner Babatunde Olatunji) in 2005 and electric violinist Jason G (also grandson of someone awesome probably) in 2008.

After graduating from Brown in 2009, Andy Suzuki moved to New York City where the band consistently packs reputable clubs such as The Bitter End and Rockwood Music Hall. They also play at colleges and high schools on the east coast and beyond. The trio’s debut release, 300 Pianos, has received rave reviews on music blogs all over the internet. Read more on Last.fm.
