God's Gotta Be a Good Ole Boy Lyrics

See a fence line cutting through a hill side
Gold shining on an orange boat or digging down in it
6:50 AM, jacking it up, Jack in a cup
Roof, forty, pour Coke, no doubt I know

God's gotta be a good ole boy
God's gotta be a good ole boy
He put the bucks in the woods, put the bass in the water
Put the red neck in the ole blue collar
Slow you down honey, corporated towns
Aw good Lordy look around
God's gotta be a good ole boy

Ever see a blacktop run out of blacktop?
Or a pair of Wranglers in a Wrangler with the top off?
Topping it off
At the Shell, kissing until the thing is filled
Lay a blanket in a field, bet you wake up thinking girl (Thinking girl)

God's gotta be a good ole boy
God's gotta be a good ole boy
He put the bucks in the woods, put the bass in the water
Put the red neck in the ole blue collar
Slow you down honey, corporated towns
Aw good Lordy look around
God's gotta be a good ole boy

Y'all just look around
Yeah, where he's shinning down

'Cause God's gotta be a good ole boy
He put the bucks in the woods, put the bass in the water
Put the red neck in the ole blue collar
Slow you down honey, corporated towns
Aw good Lordy look around
God's gotta be a good ole boy
Yeah, God's gotta be a good ole boy
Yes he does

The Missouri-born Chris Janson has electrified Nashville's country music scene. In fact, it only took two days at a local Nashville bar to incite a wave of interest from country music's biggest record labels. It could be his intense and vocally stunning performances, his remarkable ability to play the harmonica, or the depth of his songs, but there is something remarkable about this 21 year-old phenomenon. Chris' budding music career has even taken him to the big screen, when legendary film director Johnathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, Stop Making Sense) invited him to participate in "Heart of Gold" a documentary capturing Neil Young's 2-night performance at the Historic Ryman Auditorium. Asked to describe his sound, Chris replies that it combines "elements of rock & roll, folk, blues, roots music, and vintage country." Nashville's critics been buzzing with excitement about this emerging star, and have even likened him to a combination of Mick Jagger and Hank Williams Sr. Chris readily acknowledges his influences, but he has a confidence in his identity that transcends his age. "I want to sound like Chris Janson," he says, "It's just what you see on stage, that's what you'll get on my record. I'm not afraid to push the limits. I don't have a set list at my shows, I just play songs. It's all about soul and feel". And as all great country music stars and rock & roll legends are marked by their authenticity and originality, Chris Janson is on that same path toward greatness. Read more on Last.fm.
