Often compared to Nick Cave, Nico and the Velvet Underground, and Johnny Cash, Parasol weaves intricate tales infused with raw, visceral lyrics, dark meaning and simmering atmosphere. The end result is a highly stylized aesthetic of both sound and imagery.

Most of the lyrics on “Our Hearts First Meet” are drawn from Parasol’s personal life and sewn into cohesive songs which, though seemingly simple, offer themselves up for multiple interpretations. Texas is featured as a backdrop on several of the songs, a place where she lived for a time and has subsequently revisited over the years.

The making of “Our Hearts First Meet” was no easy task. Lineup changes, financial difficulties, disappearing engineers and other upsets nearly halted Parasol’s project several times, yet no doubt fueled her determination.
