Goodbye Weekend Lyrics

Goodbye weekend, so long darling
Macky's been a bad bad boy
And when their preaching is sure to change me
Should rearrange me or so they thought

So don't go telling me how this boy should be leaving his own life
Sometimes rough but generally speaking I'm fine
If you don't agree with the things that go on within in my life
Well honey that's fine there's no itch in wasting your time

Suddenly, place me, give me a sign
Repeat the metra when you're stepping out of line
Give me another, something to be
May help out the country boy but it won't work out on me

So don't go telling me how this boy should be leaving his own life
Sometimes rough but generally speaking I'm fine
If you don't agree with the things that go on within in my life
Well honey that's fine there's no itch in wasting your time

So don't go telling me how this boy should be leaving his own life
Sometimes rough but generally speaking I'm fine
If you don't agree with the things that go on within in my life
Well honey that's fine there's no itch in wasting your time

Mac DeMarco is the antithesis to your stereotypical singer-songwriter. Disregarding the seriously somber moments, he replaces them with whimsical and youthful spontaneity, whilst retaining endearing and subtle commentaries. Promptly after leaving his Edmonton garage for Vancouver he embarked on a grand voyage of enlightenment and alcoholic debauchery.

DeMarco’s a weird cat, cultivating an affinity for occult imagery, nudity and social satire. But his most impressive trait is his undeniable and instinctual ability to compose magical pop jangles, which he refers to as “jizz jazz.” His dusted jams have garnished him accolades that are as ever-increasing as his song-writing abilities. Mac's favorite artists are Shuggie Otis, Steely Dan, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Jonathan Richman and The Grateful Dead

DeMarco was born Vernor Winfield McBriare Smith IV on April 30, 1990, in Duncan, British Columbia. He was named after his great-grandfather, Vernor Smith (1864 - 1932), who was the Minister of Railways and Telephones in Edmonton. To spite his absentee father, DeMarco's mom Agnes changed his name to McBriare Samuel Lanyon DeMarco when he was five. Friends and family came to know him as "Mac." He grew up in Edmonton, the capital of Alberta. After high school, DeMarco moved to Vancouver. Calling himself Makeout Videotape, Mac released his debut tape in 2009, entitled Heat Wave.
