1=2 is the electro-indie-dance project of Madison, WI-based artist Spencer Pforsich. Founded in 2012, this one-man band combines drum loops with live instrumentation to make not-quite-dance, not-quite-rock songs. Using fair use samples from a ridiculous range of sources, each track's beat is a Frankenstein's monster for the backbone. From there, guitar, bass, keys, and vocals are added in mesmerizing layers.
