Ryan Spearman is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with impressive skills on the guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, and harmonica.
Performing as a solo act, his repertoire features folk, blues, old time, rock, early jazz, and distinct original songs that tend to magically combine an exceptional command of language with a broad understanding of American musical form.
Spearman is an instructor at The Folk School of St. Louis where he has taught classes covering several traditional musical subjects including, clawhammer banjo, old time & bluegrass fiddle, guitar, jug band & old time ensemble performance.
He has performed professionally and conducted instructional workshops in countless cities across eighteen states in many settings including: festivals, clubs, concert halls, elementary schools, square dances, barn raisings, weddings, house concerts, and everything in between.
Ryan has recently worked with The Muddy Waters Theatre Company as a consultant in musical direction on their production of Eugene O' Neill's "Desire Under the Elms" and as musical director on their current production of "Long Day's Journey into Night". He composed, arranged, and performed the scores for both using a combination of traditional and original material.
Since his recent return from his first European concert tour, Spearman has been spending his time developing the first phase of The Green Strum Project, teaching at The Folk School of St. Louis, and performing solo around the St. Louis area and points beyond.
