A Hungarian alternative rock band. Kézi_Chopin was formed in 1983 in Budapest. Members were: Tibor Legát (lead singer, songwriter), András Csehy, György Glatz, László Papócsi and László Tóth. Their music and lyrics were too raw, harsh and politic for the authorities at that time, and their gig in Kassák Klub was banned in 1985. There was nothing said about this in their country, only the L.A. based Spex Magazine wrote about this incident.

They re-formed in 1986. It was the time when László Tóth joined the band, who helped them make trickier lyrics with the same amount of criticism towards Hungarian politics only with less scandalous statements, and a bit more wit. They were allowed to have concerts, but not to make albums. In 1988 Tibor Legát left the band, and they tried to continue with a new singer, but after one concert, they disbanded.

Legát returned in 1990. Their new album (Az utolsó magyar playboy - 'The Last Hungarian Playboy') was a surprise with a more guitar-centric music and with more intelligent and ironic lyrics. It was a success among their fans, but with the next LP they returned to their old ways. At the end of the nineties, the band disbanded again. Read more on Last.fm.
