Formed in September, 2003, the Knews is a group of friends trying to have fun in today's busy world of richard scarry. The four boys come from various musical backgrounds, and bring their influences together to create their sound.

The Knews consists of: John Pilat, Vocals/Guitars/Keyboards; Jesse Theriault, Guitars; Andrew Prine, Bass/Vocals; and Nathan Lamb, Drums/Auxiliary Percussion.
The story of this Sarnia-based band started when John and Jesse had decided to form a band. They both worked as guitar teachers at a local music store. John had known Nathan from school (they were in jazz band together), and had asked him to play drums for this band that was to be formed. After going through many bassists, the Knews finally found Andrew. He had filled in as a substitute teacher at the music store that John and Jesse had been working at.

After losing their bassist of a year, they knew that Andrew’s sound was the sound they’ve been wanting. The band’s background (as individuals) varies greatly from member to member. John, 21, is a classically trained pianist (Grade 10 with RCM) and has played guitar since he was 11, Jesse, 21, decided to take up guitar at age 14 and has been quite successful, Andrew, 16, has been playing guitar and bass for many years and has taught and taken lessons, and Nathan, 18, has been playing guitar since he was 6, and drums since he was 8.

Over the past year, John and Nathan have been away at school and have had to come home to Sarnia for recordings and gigs. The music written by the Knews reflects personal events (doesn’t it always?), movies and simply just nonsense that seemed funny and righteous at the time.

The Knews has managed to record a seven-track demo over the past year, when the members have had free time, and is a band whose sound has evolved greatly over the time it’s been together. It hopes to continue its quest for musical success. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
