Take a humble, yet in-your-face style, mix it with the perfect blend of music and ministry, and you get JB Real. Fans of real music can enjoy his music as it bangs in your ear and speaks to your heart all at the same time.

The Beginning:

Rafael Hartgrove, born December 17th, 1983 through a musician father and an evangelist mother, learning how to walk with God and developing a passion for music was instilled in him from a very early age. Through the teachings and guidance from his mother, Rafael began to know and learn how to walk with God at the age of 9. "I can remember my mom teaching me how to pray and how to experience God in my own personal life" Rafael explains. "If it wasn't for her putting that in me, I probably would have never understood who God is like I do now." With the passion to be a minister, Rafael began ministering to youth groups and helping his mother as she traveled to help establish churches in North & South Carolina. It seemed that Rafael was well on his way, but Rafael would soon turn from these teachings.

The Turn:

As Rafael got older, he strayed further and further away from what his mother taught him. He wanted to be accepted by the crowd, so he would do as they would do; run the streets. As Rafael got into more and more trouble following the crowd and trying to fit in, he would fall deeper and deeper in immorality. After years of sinful living, Rafael would finally make a decision.

The Return:

At that point he decided to make a decision to change. Rafael began to dig in the Word of God on the things he struggled with. He explains:

"I started drilling myself with the word of God in the areas I struggled with. I would then create limits and restictions on myself like how much TV I would watch and what programs. I would limit my interactions with women and I would make sure I had someone I could trust to keep me accountable. I really started to overcome when I told someone of my issues. Thats the most important thing to do when you're struggling with ANY type of sin. TELL SOMEONE. The Bible says to confess your sins to one another and pray for one another; and you'll be healed (James 5:16). I opened up to my family and close friends and they began praying for me and keeping me accountable. Once I knew that I had people helping me stay strong, it became easy to leave it and keep moving for the things of God."

Now, you can find Rafael is avidly pursuing Ministry with aspirations to create a Christian conglomerate of ministry, music, and arts. He is currently involved in various services at his church at Word of God Fellowship in Raleigh, NC. "I don't have a 'super testimony', nor do I claim to be the 'next best thing to hit the rap/music scene' Rafael says. "One thing I WILL say is that I love Christ and I love being a part of His Kingdom". With that said we pray you enjoy what you experience from this site. So if you enjoy Christ centered, spirit-filled music; then lets praise the Lord together!!
