Started by Aria, she and her band have provided their environment with doomsday theories, dark horror stories, sweet love songs and general frustration ever since the year 2000. With songs that are well crafted and that feature a strong melody base that makes them work just as well with vocals and a single guitar as with the whole band, Aria started Maika together with her co-writer and guitar player Micro. Determined to make Maika a success they decided to leave everything behind and move to Oslo from western Norway, where they further developed their unique sound through recordings and many gigs. In May 2005, Maika had the honor of being front page band at the independent music site Uhørt ("Unheard"), and their underground hit "Concave Glass" has made artists in Oslo, nurses in Kongsberg and bar owners in Prague smile and dance ecstatically.
