The Goodnight Fields came about due to Blake's longing to make music that gave back in the same way music gave something to him. A wish, hope, dreams. He was lucky enough to find three other incredible musician who felt the same way. Blake wrote most of the material the band is currently playing in the Spring of 2010. After a lot of hard work and searching, the band was brought together and first began locally performing in Muncie and Indianapolis the following October. As of April 2011, the band has played over 30 shows, traveled as far as Wisconsin to open for Lifehouse, recorded an EP and a full length album, filmed a music video, and had more fun than they ever imagined possible.

Blake, Suzanne, and Dale all met at the 2009 summer band camp for Ball State's marching band. After a year of thinking they could distract themselves from their love of music with schoolwork, they came to their senses and formed The Goodnight Fields. The band put up posters advertising their need for a player in September 2010, and multi-instrumentalist Pat Hannon answered the call.

The Goodnight Fields are currently working out how to record their first album tentatively entitled "Coincidence and Dreams." They have currently released a free EP of their work so far entitled "Sounds from Gilbert Street" that can be downloaded from their reverbnation account.

Blake lists his major song writing influences as 90's pop/alternative bands like Better than Ezra, Tonic, Matchbox 20, and the Goo Goo Dolls as well as folk/newgrass bands like Nickel Creek, Good Old War, Mumford and Songs, and Guster. Well, Guster fits into both of those categories. Either way...
