I Can't Get Next To You Lyrics

I can turn the gray sky blue
I can make it rain when I want it too
I can build a castle from a single grain of sand
I can make a ship sail on dry land

Unhappy am I with all the powers I possess
Honey, you got the key to my happiness and I

Can't get next to you babe, can't get next to you
Can't get next to you babe, can't get next to you

I can fly like a bird in the sky
I can buy anything that money can buy
I can turn a river into a raging fire
And I can live forever if my soul desires

Unhappy am I with all the powers I possess
Honey, you got the key to my happiness and I

Can't get next to you babe, can't get next to you
(No I can't, but I'm tryin')
Can't get next to you babe, can't get next to you
(You never know how hard, yeah)

I can turn back the hands of time, you better believe I can
And I can make the seasons change, just by waving my hand
I can change anything from old to new
All the things I wanna do the most
You know that they are impossible for me to do

Unimportant are these things that I am tryin' to do
You see you got the key to my happiness and I

Can't get next to you babe, can't get next to you
(And I really want to get next to you)
Can't get next to you babe, can't get next to you
(And I've been callin' you everyday, can't find your number)

Unhappy am I with all the powers I possess
You see baby, I got the key to my happiness and I

Can't get next to you babe, can't get next to you
(I want to and I've been tryin')
Can't get next to you babe, can't get next to you
(Draggin' myself through the mud, yeah)

I can turn back the hands of time, you better believe I can
I can make the seasons change, just by waving of my hand
I can change anything from old to new
But all the things I wanna do the most
You know that they are impossible for me to do

Unhappy am I with all the powers I possess
You see honey, you got the key to my happiness

And I can't get next to you babe, can't get next to you
(And I'm really trying, I've been callin' you everyday)
Can't get next to you babe, can't get next to you
(Well I can't find your number, I'm glad you are my second home)

Can't get next to you babe, can't get next to you
(Come on hang with me, 'cause I'm around)
Can't get next to you babe, can't get next to you
(I'm gonna give in to your fear, and I wanna give it to you, baby)

Savoy Brown is a British blues band formed in the 1960s, originally known as the Saveloy Brown Blues Band. Their 1969 single, Train to Nowhere (with singer Chris Youlden), was viewed by many as the last gasp of the blues scene in Great Britain. Although Savoy Brown never reached much acclaim in their home nation, they developed a loyal core following in the United States. In the 1960s and 1970s, the band managed to penetrate the Billboard Hot 100. Superstardom perpetually evaded them, perhaps in part because of their frequent lineup changes. Indeed, while the band is still active today, only one founding member, Kim Simmonds, has been with the band since the beginning. Guitarist "Lonesome" Dave Peverett, bassist Tony Stevens, and drummer Roger Earl went on to form Foghat. Original member and harmonica player John O'Leary is still active on the British blues circuit with The John O'Leary Band. Savoy Brown's first album, Shake Down, featured lead vocalist Bryce Portius. Portius was one of the first black blues musicians to be a part of a British rock band. Another singer, Dave Walker, would later join Fleetwood Mac and Black Sabbath. Read more on Last.fm.
