Aviation and the War is an Indie Alternative duo consisting of singer-songwriter Matt Buenger and wooden stick maneuverer Joe Christopoulos. A product of Chicago, they are self-produced, self-managed, and self-writing this biography.

Originally formed in 2012, the band incurred a false start when both members’ paths led them to opposite sides of the country. When reunited in 2014, they released their debut album – Haste.

Pushing the limits of their resources, the entire album was recorded in Matt’s modest home studio and much of the gear used was constructed by the band. However, knowing that mastering requires decades of experience, they road-tripped to New York for a session with certified indie legend, Alan Douches (Lydia – Illuminate, Brand New – Deja Intendu, From Indian Lakes – Absent Sounds… we could go on for days).

Encompassing a refreshingly raw and honest sound, Haste has received a warm welcome from Aviation’s growing fan base. The defining subtle grit has even been compared to the likes of Manchester Orchestra and Thrice’s Dustin Kensrue. The band can neither confirm nor deny these allegations, and insist they are still deeply humbled by the talent of their influences.
