Peter-Paul Pigmans (January 31, 1961 – August 27, 2003), known by his stage name 3 Steps Ahead, was a Dutch hardcore music producer. He began his career in 1993, releasing music under the aliases The Illegal Alien and Silverbells on Rave Records and Hard Stuff Records. In 1994, he was invited by ID&T to produce music for their label. He chose the name 3 Steps Ahead for his collaborations with Rob Fabrie (DJ Waxweazle) and Ed Bout (Holographic). However, the collaboration was short-lived, resulting in only two records, "Step 1" and "Step 2." Pigmans continued under the 3 Steps Ahead name as a solo artist, while Fabrie and Bout pursued separate projects.

His most well-known release was the single "Drop It." Prior to this, he created the megamix for "Thunderdome VI," known as the Hardcore-Sex mix, which was also released as a single. In 1997, Pigmans released his first album, "Most Wanted & Mad," which achieved commercial success in the Netherlands. His second album, "Junkie 4 Life," was released in 2000, shortly after he was diagnosed with cancer.

Pigmans had two children. His daughter, Lara Jill, was born in January 1998, and his son, Ender Jamie, was born in late 2000. His son's name was inspired by the character Ender Wiggin from the novel "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card, a character that also influenced Pigmans' alter ego, The Ender.

After being diagnosed with cancer, Pigmans battled the illness for four years. A benefit event was held in July 2003 to support him, with part of the proceeds used to improve his final weeks.
