Moon Zero Two, hailing from Portland, Oregon, meshes sounds and influences from all four corners of the US with members brought up in Florida, DC, Arizona, and the Pacific Northwest. The name Moon Zero Two is borrowed from a 1969 British sci-fi that takes place on the Moon in the year 2021.


The project began in 2018 when Colin Sears (drums) (Dag Nasty, The Marshes, and the original incarnation of Fugazi), Ginn Wild (guitar) (Lavola, Black Seals), and Aaron Bynum (bass) (Prosthetics) joined up to make noise in an apartment off Belmont Street in SE Portland, Oregon. The noise eventually culminated into a dozen or so songs. The band, a purely instrumental project at this point, agreed it was time to introduce a singer into the mix. After trying out a few different frontmen, the group recruited Andy Elliott (vocals) (Sonichurst) in fall of 2019 and Moon Zero Two was born.

On May 1st, 2020, the band released their first single No Heroes//Ado, and then another single, LIMBIC//KALEIDOSCOPE, on June 25th, 2020.
