Junkie's Runnin' Dry Lyrics

I always looked up on the ones who walked away
Choosing themselves over preset ways
of looking at a future that had no room for the
Questions they lived for
Always knew i never could have walked away myself
My self worth was beyond any help
And i didnt care to test it against the rejection i had seen before

But those i loved so much they underwent a change
They're working fourty hours they got caught in the game

Like junkies running dry,
the vulnerability
Junkies runnin dry
They're always there on time
junkies runnin dry
they cant be satisfied like
junkies running dry

This wonderful generosity
A third of our lives to do what we please
Doesn't look that great to me
In fact it doesnt even look fair
They call it youthful idealism
And even I would have to agree with them
Except some of us grow up and its still there

But those i loved so much they underwent a change
They're working fourty hours they got caught in the game

Junkies running dry,
the vulnerability
Junkies runnin dry
They're always there on time
junkies runnin dry
We cant be satisfied like
junkies running dry

I grow up too slow I don't wanna go
I grow up too slow I don't wanna go
I grow up too slow I don't wanna go
I grow up too slow I don't wanna go

But those i loved so much they underwent a change
They're working fourty hours they got caught in the game

But now i'm working just like everyone else
But ill get out of here

Junkies running dry,
the vulnerability
Junkies runnin dry
They're always there on time
junkies runnin dry
We cant be satisfied like
junkies running dry

Operation Ivy was a highly influential ska/punk band that originated from the East Bay of San Francisco (in Berkeley) and was active from 1987 through 1989. They were credited as one of the first ska punk bands, influencing bands such as The Suicide Machines, Choking Victim and Authority Zero.

The band consisted of frontman Jesse Michaels (vocals), Tim Armstrong (Credited as "Lint") (Vocals/Guitar), Matt Freeman (Credited as Matt McCall) (Bass/Backing Vocals), and Dave Mello (credited as Hujuku Girl) (Drums/Backing Vocals). Their name was derived from the Operation Ivy series of nuclear tests. Two of their members, Armstrong and Freeman, also perform(ed) with the bands Rancid (their current, and biggest project), Basic Radio, Downfall and Shaken 69.

Armstrong also went on to perform with The Transplants, and contribute to Dance Hall Crashers, P!nk and on solo work.

Additionally, Freeman has performed with Auntie Christ, Generator, MDC and Social Distortion.

Mello went on to perform with Schlong. There was a great deal of speculation regarding the fate of Michaels, with many fans believing that he had moved to Nicaragua or became a Buddhist monk. Michaels eventually resurfaced into the music world with a project band, Big Rig, and later with a more active band, Common Rider, which included bassist Mass Giorgini (of Screeching Weasel) and drummer Dan Lumley (of Squirtgun). Common Rider released two full-length albums and did some nationwide touring in the United States before eventually disbanding in 2003. Currently Jesse Michaels has teamed up with Morgan, Max, and Mike from The Hard Girls to form Classics of Love a melodic 1980's style punk band based out of Berkeley, California.
