From a musical family, Alan began singing and songwriting in his early teens and initially cut his teeth with several established local bands before forming the duo Equator with fellow Yorkshire musician Darren Fox. Together they signed a US record deal that provided them with useful insight into the music business, if not a hit record. Ultimately however, Equator was consigned to history and Alan stepped out on his own.

By 2001, Alan was developing his own distinctive dance pop sound and voice, writing and performing with powerhouse vocalist Lonnie Gordon on the song “Time Is Tight”. It was the hooky “Here In My Heart” however that would provide the initial flush of success in 2003, registering in many regional dance charts in the UK and US, and receiving a substantial amount of airplay.

In 2006, the single “(Get It) On The Track”/”Push Rewind” received major attention across Europe, making the dance charts in 8 countries, including the UK. Alan was also busy producing for other artists, and worked on projects for both Warner Brothers (co executive-producing Dollar's The Platinum Album") and Sony BMG.

By early 2007, Alan had joined the D6 Records roster and began writing songs for an album, released November 2007, entitled “After Midnight”. The album comprised many styles, from electronica to dance and included a single, the uplifting “Now The Rain Has Gone” which hit the UK Pop Top 20. The song was mixed by 7th Heaven who subsequently became a key ingredient to Alans "sound". The track is also due for release on Centaur Records in the USA this Spring.

Follow-up "Dance Away" peaked at number 7 in the UK Commercial Pop Chart and hit number 1 on the Euro Hi-NRG charts in February 2008, as well as going Top 10 dance in Italy and Spain. "Let Your Love Flow" and "I Love The Sunshine" followed in 2009.

2010 saw the release of "Sun Went Down" on Maelstrom, remixed by Beltek, and coming in 2011 are "Stone Cold" and "Caught In The Rain" (with Bobina).

Recently, Alan has been instrumental in bringing two of Dollar's albums to CD: as executive producer he compiled the tracks and wrote the sleeve notes for the Cherry Red 2010 releases of The Paris Collection and The Dollar Album.
