Life on the Road Lyrics

Half a tank should get me to Millbank
I fill her up and head down to Sidcup
It's just a feeling
It's only fleeting
It's just a picture then I'm off to Ipswich
Life on the road
Don't need a heavy load
Foot down to the floor
Seventy miles per hour but no more
Wheeler dealing
No feeling
Strictly business I'm killing any witness
Then to Gloucester
I get a costa
Hard shoulder
Coffee holder
Life on the road
Don't need a heavy load
Foot down to the floor
Seventy miles per hour but never more
Life on the road
Don't need a heavy load
Foot down to the floor
Seventy miles per hour but no more
Life on the road
Don't need a heavy load
Foot down to the floor
Seventy miles per hour but no more

An accomplished guitarist and singer songwriter from Slough. David Brent originally found success with the band Foregone Conclusion, with whom he toured with a little known Scottish act called Texas. After this brush with fame Brent took a break to manage a paper merchants in his hometown. After appearing in the popular BBC2 documentary "The Office" Brent returned to the music industry starting his own record label "Juxtaposition Records" and releasing a cover of "If You Don't Know Me By Now" however chart success never came Brent's way so he started a career in sales.

Brent's earlier work with Foregone Conclusion is considered to be his finest, his most popular tracks being "Freelove Freeway" and "Paris Night".

Brent considers himself as a political songwriter also penning such songs as "The Spaceman" and reggae number "Equality Street" in an attempt to highlight racial inequality in Britain.
